Energy Recovery, Inc. (NASDAQ: ERII) announced several contracts to supply the PX® Pressure Exchanger® (“PX”) to desalination projects in Algeria totaling over $28 million.

Desalination plays a large role in Algeria’s strategy to combat water scarcity. Desalination provides 17% of Algeria’s water, and the country has prioritized increasing desalination’s share to 50% of the water supply by 2030, in response to climate change and a severe drought in 2021. Algeria’s commitment to desalination is evident in its water strategy, which includes the creation of a dedicated desalination agency.

This slate of projects will help bring the country closer to its goal, as all of these contracted projects will supply PX devices to municipal desalination projects, providing clean drinking water to local residents. All orders are scheduled to deliver in 2023.

The PX can reduce energy consumption in desalination by as much as 60% and offers the lowest lifecycle cost of any energy recovery device on the market. Energy Recovery estimates that these PX units will prevent more than 560,000 metric tons of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere each year, the equivalent of removing approximately 120,000 passenger cars from the road.

Energy Recovery (NASDAQ: ERII) announced a collection of contracts totaling nearly $17 million to supply PX® Pressure Exchanger® energy recovery devices for desalination facilities in the Gulf region. These PX devices are expected to prevent over 400,000 metric tons of carbon emissions from entering the atmosphere each year, the equivalent of removing over 85,000 passenger cars from the road each year.

These contracts include a municipal desalination facility that will produce over 500,000 cubic meters per day (132 million gallons) to a significantly water stressed region. These facilities mark a major milestone in addressing the region’s critical water scarcity challenges and reinforcing sustainable water security. By adopting competitive and efficient seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination technology, including hundreds of PX devices, these facilities will also contribute to ongoing efforts in the region to reduce the cost of water. The facilities are for both municipal and industrial applications and the orders are expected to be fulfilled by Q4 2023.

New models include the U20, U80, and U250 for enhanced efficiency and reliability in industrial applications

Energy Recovery Inc., a market leader in energy recovery devices (ERDs), has announced the expansion of its pressure exchanger (PX) Ultra High-Pressure Series (U Series) product line, tailored for ultra high-pressure reverse osmosis (UHPRO) applications.

The expanded U Series product line now includes the U20, U40, U80, U250 models. Flow ranges for the suite of models range from 2.3-56.8 m3/hr (10-250 gpm) with a maximum operating pressure of 120 bar (1,740 psi).

With government-mandated zero or minimal liquid discharge (ZLD or MLD) requirements increasing globally, the PX U Series drives ZLD/MLD operational efficiency by using the cutting-edge energy recovery technology of the PX® Pressure Exchanger® to reduce operating costs from UHPRO.
